Disney Gifts Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Royal Baby Animated Clip
What do you get the baby who has everything? His own animated short, of course! Disney went all out with its gift to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, creating a brand new animated short starring baby Sussex and his parents.
Royal commentator Omid Scobie shared the sweet clip to Twitter on May 9, 2018. “To celebrate the birth of Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, @Disney have created a special Winnie-the-Pooh animation as a gift for Harry and Meghan,” he wrote. “The short was hand-painted in watercolor by Disney’s senior principal artist Kim Raymond. Really special.”
The 25-second clip shows everyone’s favorite teddy bear, Winnie the Pooh, traipsing his way through the Hundred Acre Wood with an extra-special present—a blue book emblazoned with an emblem of the royal crown—in tow. On his journey, Pooh traverses a stream and makes his way up the path to Windsor Castle to hand-deliver the book.
His efforts pay off—at the end of the clip, the bear can be seen taking a seat next to a rocking chair, where a smiling Meghan, 37, is flipping through the book. Prince Harry is there too, looking over her shoulder, while baby Archie rests in his nearby crib, which bears his name.
Disney's offering has an even more special significance to Harry, 34, who reportedly has a penchant for the honey-loving bear: He reportedly gifted his nephew, Prince Louis, with a first-edition copy of Winnie the Pooh—worth more than $1,000 USD—at his christening in July 2018.
As a source told The Sun, “Robinson Crusoe was William’s favorite book, but Harry loved all things A. A. Milne.”
It’s not the only present the couple will receive in the wake of the May 6, 2018 arrival of their firstborn child; their good pal Oprah Winfrey also has something special up her sleeve. “I have a standard gift that I do for people that I really care about...This baby will have enough books to last a lifetime,” she told Access Hollywood before the birth.
The royal duo has also received a few slightly more unconventional presents, according to the royal website, including a “framed image of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's names represented as molecules,” and a “hamper of produce.”
Hey, it's the thought that counts, right?
