An Event Planner's Glam Wedding in Dallas
Chelsea Caswell and Montgomery Hill met in 2009 at the University of Missouri and spent the next five years as friends before their relationship turned romantic. And during a trip to Dallas for Chelsea's 25th birthday in the winter of 2015, Montgomery decided to take their relationship one step further with a proposal. "One by one there was a knock at the door and each time I answered another friend or family member stood before me," Chelsea remembers. "It was so special!" For their wedding, on April 23, 2016, Chelsea (an event planner herself!) turned to an old photograph of Montgomery's grandparents on their wedding day as her main source of inspiration. "They look as if they could walk down the aisle today just as they are, stylish and timeless as ever. ... I wanted to look back on our photographs for years to come and see timeless elegance and love," says the bride. With that vision, Chelsea channeled her own expertise—and tapped her Mathes and Co Events coworkers—to create an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception for 150 guests at Marie Gabrielle Gardens. This bride is a former Miss USA contestant and admits that she avoided beaded gowns at all costs. "I was drawn to the wedding gowns that were more simplistic, with clean lines and shapes," she says.
The winning number was a satin and chiffon gown by Enzoani with a long dramatic train. It fit the bride like a glove! She paired the timeless gown with her late grandmother's wedding band, Henri Bendel earrings, and Alexandre Birman shoes.
Chelsea's bridesmaids handpicked their own all-white dresses for the big day, keeping a few rules in mind: all white, knee length, and no embellishments. The groomsmen wore classic tuxedos with bow ties to match the groom. Chelsea's brother and sister were the ring bearer and flower girl, and they matched the wedding party to keep the group looking classic and cohesive.
The all-white theme was evident in the day's florals as each bridesmaid carried a bundle of white hydrangeas and orchids. The bride carried a bouquet of white peonies.
For the ceremony, Chelsea's father walked her through the venue's manicured garden, and her stepfather joined them at the start of the aisle. Ghost chairs were placed on either side of a white aisle runner that led to two large all-white floral arrangements, which framed the altar where the couple exchanged personal vows.
Following the outdoor vows, guests moved inside for the reception, where round tables were topped with a textured lace and pearl embellished lining. Each table featured menus encased in a clear chargers, gold flatware, and one of three centerpiece arrangements. Some tables held a large round floral arrangement, some held a lower centerpiece underneath a hanging chandelier, and others held a candle and orchid arrangement. Guests spent the evening on the dance floor before digging into the late-night surprise: An In-N-Out food truck. "If you ask any attendee from the wedding, they will say the highlight of the menu was the late-night food," Chelsea says. We suggest you take note for your own big-day—your guests will for sure thank you (and Chelsea and Montgomery!) later.
